My precious baby boy turns two months old and your "gift" consists of 3 injections and one oral vaccination. Long ago some mother must have created the idea that at the end of that year you deserved your first birthday cake. And you're given permission to stick your entire arms up to your elbows in it as a way to say "I'm sorry for all those vaccinations sweetie."
you still don't enjoy being in the buff..but aw, you're so cute when you are!
As the nurse quickly administered the shots I felt my tears swell in my eyes and one dropped on your sweet beet red check. You were right in the middle of one of those cries that completely breaks a mother down. The type of cry where you suck in air and we wait and wait and wait to hear you exhale and when you finally do its at a decibel that's unheard of on most days. Oh my poor sweet Rowan! Daddy was in the room but he turned away. You'll soon learn that he isn't a fan of needles at all and when you're much older you're going to have to assist mama in holding him down when he needs shots himself.
The pediatrician was nice enough to allow me to nurse you while you bravely took these shots and thankfully you cried but a few minutes and then went back to nursing. Whew..it worked this time but what happens when you have teeth and need shots again? Mom will probably release one of those inaudible cries too...inhale inhale..aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
The GOOD news..yes there is great news: You are growing beautifully.
1 month checkup : 8lb 8oz; 20inches, head circumference 14.5
2 month checkup: 11lb 3oz, 22.5 inches, head circumference 15.5
You're in the 25-50% percentile for length and head size and 25% for weight. The Pedi said that even though you were such a tiny baby you're quickly trying to catch up to your peers and shooting "straight up" on the charts.
Those percentages may not sound like a big deal, but compare your photo when you were just 15 days old to today at 2months2 days...

And now we're back at home and if it weren't for the fact that we knew you had shots you seem to be having a pretty decent day. Every now and then you fuss when we pick you up and sometimes accidentally squeeze your legs against us..sorry! But look at you! Rowan you're growing up so fast. Sigh.
In your car seat you are snug as a bug :)
and when you're ready to get out this is the face you start making ..so cute!
